Britnell quits NHS for European position
Healthcare Market News -
The NHS director general for commisisoning and system management Mark Britnell is leaving the Department of Health (DH) to take up a job heading a European healthcare division of auditor's KPMG.
Mr Britnell, who has been with the DH since 2007, is generally recognised as one of the leading reformers in NHS management and an outspoken promoter of private sector involvement in the NHS. Most recently he set up the co-operations and competition panel to ensure fair access to the healthcare market as well as designing the framework for securing external support for commissioners (FESC) which encourages private sector involvement in state heathcare delivery..
He was also instrumental in establishing the World Class Commissioning drive.
No official statement has been released by the DH, but it is understood that Mr Britnell is currently on gardening leave and will join KPMG shortly.
