PiC to build new unit at Kneesworth
Partnerships in Care (PiC) has confirmed plans to build a 42-bed medium secure unit at its 150-bed Kneesworth House Hospital on the border between Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire.
The new development will modernise PiC’s medium secure accommodation at Kneesworth, which provides services for male and female patients with mental illness; men with personality disorders; and men with mild learning disabilities.
Rosario O’Connell, regional executive director for the PiC Eastern region said: ‘This is an exciting project which we have been planning for some time. It will enable us to further enhance the Kneesworth House site and develop a very modern environment for our patients. The building will comprise three single storey 14-bedded wards. It will be built to a modern medium secure standard and all bedrooms will include en-suite facilities.’
Subject to archeological survey, building work on the three-ward unit is expected to commence in September.
