Candidate for CQC chair announced
Dame Jo Williams has been named as the government’s candidate for the new chair of the Care Quality Commission, following an independent recruitment exercise by the Appointments Commission.

Health Secretary Andrew Lansley will decide whether or not to proceed with the appointment after the Health Select Committee reports on the conclusions of its pre-appointment scrutiny hearing.

Dame Jo Williams is currently the interim Chair of the Care Quality Commission, a post she has held since the resignation of Baroness Barbara Young in January.
